Remarks: There are two presentations of a 3-voice NIm consisting of chant soggetto and two imitative entrances of the borrowed motive. The leading, lower imitative entrance is amplified through sequential splicing: the motive is heard twice, with the last note of the first instance also being the first note of the second instance. The shorter following entrance then runs in parallel thirds with the leading entrance.

Each A consists of three entrances in the lower three voices (altus/bassus/tenor), with the first two in close fuga and the third a near-singleton (M1/6; 5-5+ in the first A, 5-1+ in the second). The B is the cantus entrance in bb. 74--75. Also, the pattern of which entrances are the original form and which the alternative "flexed" form is interesting: if X is the original and Y the form that first appears in the cantus singleton entrance, the pattern is XXXY(Y')YX, with (Y') representing a form with additional flexing at its last interval. In short, there are ABA forms on two different levels. (Is there possible symbolism somehow relating this to "crucifixus"?)
