Remarks: This passage basically consists of four presentations of an imitative duo, plus one extra entrance (tenor, bb. 67-69). The first two presentations of the duo also include a non-imitative tail in the lower voice. The third presentation of the duo is inverted (ic12) and flexed. Not recorded in the data are two entrances of a secondary motive in the upper voices of bb. 64-66: this motive resembles the tail of the main subject in diminished rhythmic values, and it is also identical to the motive treated in fuga in bb. 22-28 of this movement (and analogous places in other mvts.)

Remarks: Morales sets the final phrase of the text, 'Quoniam tu solus sanctus', in what is arguably the most extended & complex passage of fuga in the piece so far. Some of the fragmentary semi-imitative entrances of the subject (those which do not begin on its first note) are selected in the score, but not included in the analysis of fuga given here. The altus shadows the bassus in bb. 105-7 and 109-10. Not notated in this relationship but also contributing to the complexity of the passage is the presence of a cantus firmus drawn from a different chant segment in the cantus of bb. 97-102.
